In Denia and Gandia the petition which is attempting to show governments,both regional and central that there is a real swell of local opinion in each town to have a rail link.There is no rail link between Valencia and Alicante along the coast .Those who wish to go to Valencia must drive to Gandia from Denia or catch a bus or take a taxi and then catch a train there.For many people this break in the rail line service causes great inconvenience.Up to now the signatues total 21,000 .The latest figures have not yet been announced.
The campaign to build a line has been ongoing for 40 years .Opening such a line opens up all sorts of possibilities for people who live in the area to widen their horizons.City dwellers would also be able to live further from their workplaces.Properties in La Safor and other places would be much cheaper and would be a boost for the property market too.
Campaigners have been drumming up support at all sorts of local events in Denia ,Ondara and Gandia.To be able to travel from Alicante to Valencia is a dream held by many people.
