A 30 year old crashed his plane at San Miguel de Salinas,inland from Torrevieja, last week.The man was from Orihuela and his light aircraft ,residents say,made some strange manoeuvres before crashing into trees and bursting into flames.The fire was so intense that it was impossible to identify the body initially.
The man,Jose Manuel Niguez Martinez owned the plane and maintained it himself,he was a qualified airline engineer and had obtained his pilot’s license in the USA some years ago.
The funeral took place on Thursday in Rafal,where he and his partner were born.Why the plane crashed has yet to be ascertained.It was flying very low and residents say that it hit a fig tree.
