A Romanian man and woman from Benidorm are being accused of forcing an underage pregnant girl into prostitution. This is the claim of the prosecution service. These people are said to have been running a prostitution racket since 2004,bringing young women to spain from Romania and then destroying their passports.
It has not been revealed just how old the girl was but it is believed that she is or was underage, possibly between 13 and 18 at the time. She was forced to be a prostitute on the N-332 between Altea and Benidorm, even though she was pregnant.
She was threatened that if she refused to do what they wanted then they would harm her family at home and would also harm her.She was told that the same would happen if she reported them to the police. They continued to exploit the young woman even after she had given birth.
Prosecutors have asked for a five year sentence for each of these people. In fact the girl was released in November 2004 when her kidnappers feared that the boyfriend of the girl, who had just arrived in spain ,might take action against them. The verdict of the court will be heard next week.
The exploitation of women along the N-332 is a disgrace to Spain and something should be done to clean up the prostitution business in this country.
