A Benitaxell( Costa Blanca) resident was out walking on the tossal Gros mountain with his wife when he was attacked and stung by bees .There are warning signs about not getting too close to the beehives in the area and police believe that he did not see them.If anyone gets too close then the bees can react violently.

While the man was being attacked his wife managed to get to an area where her mobile phone would work and she called the emergency services.It took them over an hour to find the victim but it was a beekeeper who eventually managed to take control.

The man suffered 300 stings but luckily did not suffer any allergic reactions.The German man also managed to remain calm despite his ordeal.He was taken to the medical centre in Teulada where staff removed the stings.He was kept in for overnight observation.

It is thought that the couple had wandered off the marked routes which do warn quite clearly that people stay away from the hives.
