It appears that Javea has a debt problem and Nueva Javea party is warning residents to expect tax rises.Why is it when a council or a government has money problems that it is the “man in the street” who has to pay for them.
The Javea council made wrong decisions about the underground carparks which have been constructed in the town.They should have paid Ecisa 12 million euros and in reality they had to pay 17 million.The fact that people don’t want to use them means that there is no income coming in either.
There is also the problem of the upgrading of roundabouts which will see the loss of 1200 parking spaces .This is more than the underground carparks can cater for even if they were being used.
These shortfalls in finances is one of the major reasons for taxes having to be hiked.When the ‘man in the street”makes financial errors then he/she has to live with them and has to cut costs and outgoings.it is about time that councils and governments do the same.People are prepared to do without in times of economic crisis.
