Valencia Gang Broken

Organised crime is a major headache for all police forces. In Valencia the Guardia Civil has broken a gang of 19 people who are suspected of a whole series of break-ins acros the Valencia region.Six were Romanian women plus 13 men from Albania and Kosovo. The arrests were carried out in Valencia with the authorisation of a Torrevieja court. There has been a 12 month operation ongoing to discover who was involved. They suspect that they have carried out over 30 burglaries whilst the owners have been at home.

The women are thought to have carried out the surveillance work and then passed this on to the men. They are also accused of taking money gained by illegal means ,out of Spain. They have all been taken to Alicante and will appear in court in Torrevieja.

There has been a proliferation of gangs of this type across the region and the government has had to deploy more specialised police officers to deal with the problem. They target isolated homes or homes on urbanisations, seeing them as soft targets.
