Rafal is a small town in the southern Costa Blanca and residents of a development there are having to vote to decide whether or not they will pay for work to be done to ensure that their homes are legal. The work was left unfinished by the developer Idearco.
These people paid for their properties when they discovered that Idearco had left theirs and several other developments unfinished as they had run out of money. There are 11 UK owners plus French and Spanish. The CAm bank is also an owner.
Electricity and water installations have to be contracted out to replace the emergency services which they used to have. The electrical contractors were never paid and are owed 80,000 euros.A new road will cost another 15,000 euros .It appears that the town hall will not use the deposits left by Idearco to complete the work.Residents want to know, understandably, where all of this money has gone.
It is hoped that the clout of the CAM bank might have some effect and also a UKIP MEP is taking an interest in the matter and will attend the meeting which is going to take place.
