The Arenal Bol in Calpe was the scene of a serious accident last week when two 13 year old German boys fell into the sea during stormy weather from one of the breakwaters.One of the boys was saved when a man jumped into the sea and saved him.However the other boy was swept out by the strong currents.Eventually rescue services attempted to keep him afloat but failed and it has taken a number of days for his body to be discovered.Sadly he was found dead ,floating in the sea three days later.
It was a Guardia Civil officer taking part in the search by divers who spotted the body in the sea.The air and sea rescue had been taking place over the three day period.The man who saved the other boy was an illegal immigrant from senegal who sells his wares along Calpe sea front.He was hurt during the rescue but was treated in Denia hospital and later released.Three firemen were also injured in the incident.The boy who died was on holiday with relatives.His parents are flying out from Germany to take the body home.
