Five new natural gas storage depots are to be built in Alicante Province and the Valencia government has awarded the contracts to Endesa ,Gas Natural and Iberdrola.This will mean that almost 400,000 homes will be able to access natural gas.This is a 29 million euro contract and it will involve 160 kilometres of pipeline which will connect depots in Villajoyosa ,Onil-Sax -Bier,Medio Vinolopo and Guardamar -Pilar de la Horadada.The fifth will be built in the Marina Alta.At the moment there are about 850,000 homes and businesses using natural gas.
In Denia the current liquid gas facility will be dismantled once the natural gas depot is built..It will supply Denia ,Javea,Ondara,El Vergel,Pego,Pedreguer and gata de Gorgos.As well as increasing this natural gas facility the regional government is also going to increase the electrical grid to rural areas.This will benefit almost 150,000 people.This has been entitled Plan Valenciano de Electrificacion Rural( PLAVER).
