A British couple who live in Crevillente in Alicante province have won their 4 year battle with Crevillente town hall about the segregation of their land. They now have a license to do just that.
The courts have found in favour of this British couple on two occasions and have dismissed the town hall’s objections as without foundation. However each time the town hall ignored the courts. Therefore the British couple took the matter up with the Ombudsman in June of this year.
Eventually ,after the ruling of the Ombudsman the council conceded on July 28 but did not inform the couple until October. The couple have praised the work done by their lawyer who eventually worked for them for nothing because of the injustice of it all. This is a test case and now there could be many more such cases.
The town hall had stated that 25,000 square metres was the minimum amount of land for segregation while regional law states that it is 10,000 square metres. The town hall thought that it was above the law.
