The local police in Torrevieja are considering using undercover officers to discover the identities of rogue taxi drivers. These drivers are unlicensed ,with all that that implies. The new director general has indicated that this is a route that they are taking very seriously. It must first of all be agreed by the sub-delegates office. This is a response to a demonstration held by 70 taxi drivers last week. They need evidence before they can prosecute.Too often these people say that they are just transporting friends .When money is handed over they say it is just the repayment of a debt. However it could be said that undercover activities might be misconstrued as “entrapment”.
