Many people in Alicante are without work and if you are an illegal worker then life is very tough without work.If you are in the country legally and without work it is also very tough to survive.Many people in such situations live in unoccupied buildings which are in poor states of repair.
Last week the body of a man was discovered in such a building .He was in his 30’s and was obviously impoverished .The police think that it is possible that he took his own life.The victim was a Lithuanian national and he was discovered in the ruins of a house on Calle Santo Domingo.The property was in a very poor conditionand was occupied by a number of people with very little money.They believe that the man died from an overdose of narcotics.A post mortem will be carried out to ascertain the actual cause of death.
