Spanish News-Prince’s Awards

The Spanish Prince Felipe who is the heir to the Spanish throne awards a series of prizes each year to individuals or organisations around the world who have achieved in science,humanities or public affairs.

This year there are two British winners who are well known around the world and are recognised as outstanding in their field.Sir David Attenborough has achieved his prize for the way in which he has continued to spread the wonders of the natural world to people across the world.He is still presenting television programmes about the animal and plant world at the age of 80.

The other British winner was Lord Norman Foster .Lord Foster has strong links with spain having designed a metro stations in Bilboa,Torre Collserolia in Barcelona and Torre Caja in Madrid.The latter is home to the British Embassy and Consulate General.

The British ambassador Giles Paxman added his congratulations saying that although these two gentlemen are well known in the UK they are also recognised across the world in their fields of expertise and how wonderful that they were being recognised in Spain.He went on the praise the foundation headed by the Prince of Asturias,saying how they choose people from across the world who have reached the top in their particular specialism.
