An appeal against the bypass around Altea has been turned down by the courts.The appeal was made by the town hall and the Mayor Sr Ripoll says that he is very disappointed by the verdict.His feelings are that the bypass will cause a great deal of environmental damage.They intend to keep fighting the plan.
The appeal was made in 2007 after a study was carried out on the proposed zone.The Altea authorities have suggested a different plan which they feel will have less environmental impact.It involved building a new lane on the A-7 with access to both Altea and Alfaz del Pi.This scheme would also cost less.The Mayor will continue to hold more meetings in a hope that common sense will prevail.
