Six new contracts have been approved by the Spanish Ministry of Public Works Department.They total almost 300 million euros .They are to be invested in works to complete the AVE high speed train links from Madrid .The Public Works Minister visited the works on a “special laboratory ” train from Cuenca as far as the Contreras viaduct.The viaduct is on the border of Cuenca and the Valencia region.
The majority of the contracts will be spent on the stretch between Albacete and Nudo de la Encina which is the connecting corridor between Madrid and the south -east of Spain.Out of the monies 174 million euros will be spent on four contracts and the remainder on the other two.Computerised systems will be installed for the operations needed to secure the coordination of the trains along the high speed links between Madrid-Castilla La Mancha-Communidad Valencia -Murcia region.
Conventional security systems were also approved for the Albacete network of railways.Signalling systems and communication systems for the Albacete-La Encina stretch of the AVE high speed link was also approved.
