The expat association which has been fighting urban abuses in Almeria has won a significant victory this month.Cantoria council has announced that it is to legalise 47 homes belonging to expats.
In September the town council ammended their town plan to include these properties which have been built on 10 hectares of land.The land has now been reclassified as urban rather than rustic.The homes had ,until now,been in a legal limbo land.
In 2008 the courts rejected the request to reclassify the land but after the council had discussed all of the issues with AUAN,the expat association,they have changed their minds.AUAN has publicly thanked the council for agreeing to hand over its ammendments to the association on a CD.This is in strong contrast to Arboleas council which has resisted doing such a thing.
