A 42 year old resident of Jerez de la Frontera died while visiting Palma de Mallorca in the Balearics.His family naturally wanted to have his body returned to Jerez and his brother flew to Palma to accompany the coffin back to Jerez on an Air Berlin flight.
On reaching Jerez he went straight to the airport mortuary to ensure the next part of the journey went smoothly.However there was no coffin in the mortuary and they had no knowledge of one at all.
The family have now been told that either the body has been loaded onto another flight or the coffin is still in Palma but held up by “red tape”.The airline has not been able to tell the family exactly what has happened.The man died while on holiday in Mallorca and the cause of death has not been revealed.The body was being flown home for a family burial.
