A 14 year old girl from Seville has agreed that in 2007 she made a false accusation against a then 18 year old youth and his friend.The young man,who was facing a 13 year prison sentence and a heavy fine,has now been acquitted.
The girl,it appears had heard that the youth was making accusations that he had slept with her and she became very upset about this as she had never had any intimate relationship with him.Other happenings in her life caused her to tell her mother that the two youths had bundled her into a car,taken her to a quiet spot ,undressed her and raped her.Naturally the mother informed the police and the two were arrested.None of her story was true except on that day she did take an overdose of painkillers and her stomach was washed out at the hospital on that day.
Women of any age who make such accusations do nothing to help the cause of the many females who are actually raped or sexually assaulted.These women need the help of the police to bring the culprits to justice but each case where the female lies about the incident can reduce the credulity of all those genuine cases in the eyes of the police.
