Alicante Public Health Offences

Nine people,all Spanish nationals ,have been arrested in connection with drugs offences in Alicante.The Guardia Civil arrested the nine people and then discovered 11 tonnes of hashish in a warehouse in Santa Pola.The investigation began over 2 months ago when some unusual activity centred around the warehouse.Eight men and one woman were arrested.They ranged in age from 30 to 65.All nine have been charged with public health offences.

When the police searched the warehouse they found the drugs hidden behind a consignment of sardines.Along with the drugs the police also discovered a high powered vehicle ,a heavy goods vehicle and 3000 euros in cash.The detainees came from Tenerife,Sevilla ,Algeciras and Madrid.

There are rumours that one of the gang is the father of a Madrid based judge.This gang was very well structured and had outlets throughout Europe.The 11 tonnes of hashish was the largest amount discovered in Alicante Province for a long time.The intervention of the police at the time was fortuitous.
