Anartz Oyarzabal was arrested in France in 2002 as an ETA bomb suspect.He is now being tried in a Madrid court and the public prosecutor is asking for a 19 year sentence.
His 22 year old girlfriend was killed in La Mata ,Torrevieja in 2001 when the bomb that she was handling went off .
Oyarzabal is accused of belonging to a terrorist organisation and possession of weapons and explosives with an intention of carrying out a terrorist explosion.
The two shared an apartment in La Mata where the explosion happened.Five people in a nearby swimming pool were also injured with one swimmer having his nose sliced off by flying glass.
The prosecutor is also asking for the accused to pay 25,000 euros in compensation to these victims and a further 300,000 euros to 15 residents who suffered extensive damage to their property.
Oyarzabal fled the scene when the explosion happened and was arrested a year later in France.
