There is still a lot of illegal building going on in Alicante Province and now Town Halls are stepping up their vigilance in rural areas to try and combat it.
The number of urban development offences has increased fivefold.In 2008 there were 65 cases brought by the public prosecutors office.These were for building on protected land ,there are other types of illegal acts associated with building too.Alicante and Elche councils have said that the other sorts of infringements run into many thousand.
Constant monitoring of rural areas needs to be done to halt these developers in their tracks.What about the poor unsuspecting purchaser who buys in good faith and then discovers that they will have to pull their home down.These are the people who need protecting from a total lack of building control in some areas.
