Fifty seven roads in San Javier,Torre Pacheco,Los Alcazares,Cartagena,Aguilla,Lorca and Mazarron are having work done on them to stop them flooding in the future.Some of the roads will also be repaired as they suffered serious damage in the recent heavy rain.The regional government is investing 3 million euros in resurfacing the roads,installing a drainage system and also new traffic signs.
The harbours of Lo Pagan,Cabo de Palos,Mazarron and Aguilas are having recycling facilities installed to encourage fishermen and boat owners not to dump their waste from their boats.They will have special bins and containers for highly poisonous and pollutant wastesuch as batteries ,oil ,varnish,thinner and filters.The waste will be stored in the facilities ,collected regularly and then taken to a special recycling and disposal plant.
