Orihuela Footbridge

During 2009 the Orihuela Town Hall has spent 14 million euros on 24 different projects which have been funded by central government in a bid to boost the economy.

During 2010 there will be another 9 million to spend on the area and the PSOE councillor Antonio Moreno has asked the Mayor to spend some of that money on the building of a footbridge across the N-332.

This region of the N-332 has been widened and is now a dual carriageway. It has meant that residents have to walk 2 kilometres to cross a footbridge enabling them to access a health centre, pharmacy other shops and the beach. To cross the road without the footbridge is a dangwerous activity.

Residents in this area have already demonstrated their feelings and have sent in a petition to the council. The N-332 is managed by central government ,so using central government money does make sense.
