Alicante airport is now the fifth busiest in Spain and it is bucking the national trend.More than 8 million people have used the airport so far this year.
One of the reasons for the success has been Ryanair.They fly to 50 cities in Europe from Alicante.Visitors from Northern Europe have also boosted numbers.October was the fourth consecutive month to see a rise in numbers.They have beaten the Canary Islands by over 800,000 for the month of October.
Although 8 million have used the airport so far this year ,it is still a drop of 5.4 %on last year at the same time,which was the best in the history of the airport.In the whole of Spain the numbers have dropped by 2.8%,possibly due to a drop in the number of British tourists.Even with this drop the Costa Blanca still keeps the title of being one of the favourite places to go in Spain.Alicante is such an easy destination for most cities in Europe.
