On July 12 1977 the Benidorm Palace opened its doors for the very first time and even then it became the most talked about nightclub in Alicante Province.Since then it has gone on to become one of the most visited venues for cabaret on the Costa Blanca,attracting tourists from all over Europe.
The Benidorm Palace has been open now for 32 years and one can only imagine the excitment and hard work that went into the creation of that very first “First Night”.Putting on any new show,however small or however large is always a nerve wracking process.On this particular occasion they were expecting 1500 customers who in their turn were expecting something specialfrom this new venue and they were not disappointed.
In 1990 the ownership of Benidorm Palace changed and was bought by Christine and Vincent Climent.As with all new owners they wanted to make their mark and change direction.They managed to acquire top names in dance and cabaret.They even had Rudolf Nureyev at the Benidorm Palace.Almost 20 years down the line the Climents are still in control there.
The venue isn’t only used for cabaret and food.They also host large conferences ,television shows and other cultural events.The nightclub is a perfect venue for such large events as it seats 1600 people.It has one of the largest stages in Europe.Some world class acts have stood on that stage.Julio Iglesias,Monserat Caballe,The Supremes to name but a few.
The Climents are now in the process of handing the company over to their children.The daughter will become the general manager.Her brother will be the Entertainment Manager.He will be booking the future artists and setting the programmes with the continued help of his father.So many people sneer at such a night of entertainment but all of those that I have spoken to about their experiences have loved it and would go back again.
