Begging in the streets, drinking in the streets and prostitution on the streets are all to be banned in Denia on the Costa Blanca. The Denia council has approved a new set of bylaws .The approval was pushed through because all of the opposition parties abstained from voting.Does this mean that the opposition parties all approve of these things? Most normal citizens in all communities would prefer not to have anti-social behaviour in the streets of their towns. This applies especially to drunks and prostitution.Begging is a different problem. Most people who beg have been pushed to the brink before they do it .This is a problem for society to solve. The present economic situation has meant that many more people have to beg to survive.
Prostitution is also a “profession ” which society is not going to stop so maybe the Denia council should provide legalised brothels which are controlled by the council. This would get the trade off the streets.
Drunks should really be dealt with by the police and the heavy fines for anti-social behaviour associated with drunkeness must be enforced .Now it is up to the police to enforce the new bylaws. If they just ignore them then it will make matters much worse in the long run.
