There wiil be a new day care centre opened in Javea on December 17.It will be at the Martha and Mary Convent in Javea and will be run by the nuns with Mother Sarah and Sister Alicia in charge. There will be places for up to 50 people .This will give carers some respite from the care which is given at home.
This is a project which has taken many years to come to fruition. Many people have worked behind the scenes ,including many expats who work with various charitable organisations. At the opening ceremony last week a cheque for 11,000 euros was presented by Roundabout Charity Shop and Javea Computer Club president presented a cheque for 750 euros.
There will be a special viewing of the centre on December 12 ,beginning with a concert in the morning. It is thought that this concept of raising funds through events and giving the money to charity is a new one for Spain but it is becoming a very popular concept, even in these difficult economic times.
