San Javier in Murcia will have its new hospital open by October 2010.The new 30 million euro hospital might even have some departments open by next summer.These announcements were made by the regional president last week.The roads leading to the hospital should be complete by the end of December.It is the equipment,furniture and other materials which will be installed next year.
This new hospital will replace rthe very overcrowded Los Arcos hospital in Santiago de la Ribera.It will also provide medical assistance to San Pedro del Pinatar,San Javier,Los Alcazares and Torre Pacheco.It will provide a service to more than 100,000 people.
Included in these services is a geriatric unit,neurology,ophthamology,ENT,urology,intensive care,dietetics and nutrition,maternity,radiology and physiotherapy,amongst others.There are 11 operating theatres and 49 surgeries for consultations.
