A Javea man has been on hunger strike in Javea as a protest with what he sees as the total mismanagement of the town by the Javea council.Antonio Serrano has now been forced to end the strike .He was taken to Denia hospital last weekend .He had intended to end the strike only when the Mayor and the council architect were placed behind bars.it appears that Sr Serrano has made formal complaints about a house built by the municipla architect on protected land in Granadella.
Illegal immigrants have escaped from a ferry which was returning them from Alicante to Oran in Algeria.It is thought that members of the crew could have helped them to flee as the brig is not very secure.The men do not have criminal records but they obviously do not want to return to Algeria.
An bar owner,who owns a bar between Altea and La Nucia, has been arrested in connection with the selling of cocaine which was hidden in packs of cigarettes.Police found and confiscated half a kilo of cocaine,6000 euros in cash,ammunition,jewellery and a Mercedes car.Some of the drugs were discovered in a caravan parked alongside the bar
