Javea Building Licenses

A British man who moved to Javea 7 years ago decided to invest his savings in land.He purchased a piece of land which had been granted building licenses. His intention was to build a house ,sell it and use the profit to live and to finance the education of his children.Once one house was sold then he would build another and so on.These buildings would provide employment in the building process and also provide employment after they were completed.Pool cleaners, gardeners and house cleaners would be necessary.

The purchaser had researched the project thoroughly but what he had not factored into the equation was the vagaries of the Spanish local government. What they give they can take away. The building industry is littered with such inconsistencies.

Now the building licenses have been suspended and no building can take place on what is derelict land. This man now has his money tied up and is a half a million euros worse off .This man and his wife are now unable to support themselves and are suffering depression.Surely when a building license is given and it is paid for then there is a legal responsibility to honour that decision.

A Spanish man has been on hunger strike because he has been so incensed about the recent decisions which the Javea council has been making about the future of the town.Sadly he had to end his hunger strike and needed hospitalisation.
