Terra Mitica the theme park near Benidorm on the Costa Blanca has been having financial problems for a while and this year it was touch and go as to whether it would open for the season.
Now the Valencia regional government,CAM bank and Bancaja ,the three major shareholders in Terra Mitica have announced that three companies have shown an interest in taking over the running of the theme park,with an option to purchase in the future.
The companies who are interested are Parques Reunidos,Grupo-Aqualandia mundomar de Benidorm and Aspro.The offer on the table seems to have interested the shareholders enough to conclude the deal before the end of the year.
Tha park has only recently been taken out of administration following the sale of 420 million euros worth of land.However it continues to run at a loss and the banks do not want to keep on ploughing money into it.If the companies do not want to buy the park outright then it is possible that they might suggest that they take over the lease for 5 or 10 years.They would then have another option to purchase.Mundomar and Aqualandia already have plenty of experience in the theme park industry.
