The residents who live in an El Altet urbanisation in Alicante,near the airport,have received a letter from the tax office demanding more money on their tax declarations for not having declared money that they allegedly received for soundproofing their homes against the noise of the aircraft flying over their homes.
These grants were issued by the airport authority AENA and the monies were actually paid to companies to install the soundproofing and not directly to the 64 residents.Consequently they feel that they were not obliged to declare it .There are residents who have already paid the tax office and there are those who have not received a request for the money yet and then there are those who have already applied for a rebate.It is felt that a processing error has been made at the tax offices.
A meeting between AENA and the councils at Alicante and Elche have shown that in five years 91% of homes have been soundproofed.
