During the summer months the Orihuela costa beaches like most resorts have lifeguards protecting the beach users and carrying out aid if members of the public get into trouble in or out of the water.This has become an accepted practice at most resorts but come the end of the summer season then this facility ends too.People who use the beaches after the summer season have to do so at their own riskPersonall I think that people should use beaches at their own risk all year around.Why can’t people be responsible for themselves and their children?

Now the “nanny “state is possibly going to have an extension and certain people are asking for the service to be extended into the autumn.It appears that lots of people actually swim after the summer visitors have left and they need “looking after”.

There is a move afoot to provide a limited service with the Red Cross on certain popular beaches and then put up red flags on other beaches warning people not to swim as their is no lifeguard.

The whole issue of providing this sort of “protection” is an anathema to many people who are quite happy to take responsibility for their own safety.
