Public security in its many forms is a top priority for the town of Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca.A new CCTV system is to be installed to crack down on speeding and also cut down on crime.The government’s Plan E is goin g to be funding the 1.6 million euro scheme.Monitors will be installed to monitor traffic and buildings and other open spaces.
The images will be relayed to a control centre in the local police station.The network will connect cameras,radar and vehicledetection systems,storing information about their position and speed.
Suspicious activity around public buildings will generate an automatic alarm which will prevent vandalism it is hoped.The system could also control traffic lights at certain junctions.
The town of Torrevieja is to receive 10.96 million euros from the government.This particular project will cost 1.6 million euros.Other projects include the renovation of sewage pipes in the town but the main project will be the building of a residentialcentre for the physically and mentally disabled at a cost of over 4 million euros.
