March 2010 will see the completion of the new Cartagena ( Murcia) hospital.The Murcia regional president made this announcement last week.Once the building is finished then the equipment can be installed and it should be up and running by November.The new hospital will service over 250,000 residents in Cartagena,Fuente Alamo,La Union and Mazarron.It will have over 600 beds,state of the art equipment for radiotherapy,a burn trauma unit,a plastic surgery unit,a vascular surgery unit,nuclear diagnosis unit and the latest equipment such as a PET/CT scannerand two magnetic resonance imaging devices.There will be parking for 1700 cars ,a shopping centre,bars,restaurants and a sports area.In total 96 million euros has been spent on the development of this hospital plus another 52 million on equipment.
The “Rostros de Roma” exhibition in Cartagena has been extended until January 10 due to popular demand.The sculptures exhibited at the exhibition range in age from the first century BC to the third century AD.The sculptures are of all sorts of famous people ,including the Empress Libia and her son the EmperorĀ Tiberius.They have been loaned by the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid.It is open to the public from Tuesdays to Fridays 10am to 4pm and 7pm to 8pm.At the weekend it is open on saturday and Sunday from 11am to 2pm.
