In Spanish news as in the news from all over the world,domestic violence exists.Usually it is the aggression of the man against the woman or the child.Sometimes it is violence of a woman against the man or the children.However in Spain the incidence of violence of children against their parents is now on the increase.One has to ask just why this should be happening.It has always happened.Children have murdered their parents for a variety of reasons but at the moment the reported incidence of children attacking their parents has increased cases.The reported attacks have also been on grandparents too.

In the data provided 40% of the attacks have been made by daughters and grand-daughters This is one of the most worrying aspects of the data.Once again one ponders on the possible use of alcohol and drugs.Just a few years ago the incidence of attacks were by sons and 80% of the attacks were on mothers.Mothers are still the main victims of attacks.

There is no typical profile for the attacks in either social or psychological backgrounds.However they do occur more often in single parent families wher the father is absent permanently from the family.Convicted children are normally treated in centres where they receive therapy.The majority of cases are successful.

Being a single mother bringing up children is a very stressful thing to do and often the mother herself has to resort to violence against the children in her attempt to keep control of the family.Maybe there is a case for such violence against the child causing them to retaliate as they get older.This is not a criticism of the mother,just a statement of fact.These single parents who are trying to be all things to all people have a very difficult time.
