Cataluna and the Valencia Community are the favourite places for camping in Spain in October.The National Institute of Statistics has just issued this data.During October 5.9 million nights were spent in places other than hotels,including campsites.This is 8.6% fewer than at the same time last year.
However the number of people in Spain( residents) who actually spent nights in accommodation actually rose by 13.2 % while the number of non-residents who stayed in accommodation fell by 15.8%.The average stay was 5.4 nights ,again a drop of 12.3 %.So far this year night stays are down by 9.4%.
Non residents make up 81.9% of all apartment stays with the UK still as the main visitors with 13 million stays,which is still 20% less than last year.The Canary Islands are the favourite place for staying in an apartment,followed by the Balearics.More than 1.2 million people stayed at campsites with a rise of 13.5% accounted for mainly by Spanish residents but with a 54.3% non-resident uptake,mainly from the UK.
