The association of residents of La Nucia which is known as Veins de la Nucia is not a happy “association”.They have estimated that at least 700,000 square metres of public land has in fact passed into private hands. They claim that this has happened because of council auctions and exchange deals.
They understandably feel that if these claims can be substatiated then the town has lost out and other” interests” have gained. In a meeting last week, which was attended by 100 people,it was agreed to take legal action to regain what is perceived to have been lost.
They also are demanding that the Mayor and the council explain itself to the residents of the town and that what has been lost to the town should be returned. At the moment the complaint has been filed with the Ombudsman ,the sub-delegates office in Alicante and the Jucar Water Confederation.
A spokesperson has commented that it is the perception that some people in the town have acquired wealth very rapidly,a fact which it is very difficult to justify and which needs to be explained.
