The La Regia urbanisation in Orihuela is in need of a footbridge over the N332 dual carriageway.This piece of road is just too dangerous for people to cross to reach amenities that they need.Last week 40 residents attended a full council meeting to hear what the council had to say on the matter.
The original footbridge was demolished when the N-332 was widened last summer and now the residents have to walk three kilometres to reach basic amenities or they must risk their lives crossing the dual carriageway.A petition to build another footbridge was rejected by the ruling PP party and the decision was booed by those attending the meeting.
However the Mayor did say that the 400,000 euros needed would be found in next years budget.However all funds from the state have to be completed by a certain date and they think that this will give the council a let out.
