Oliva was the place to be last weekend if you wanted to protest about the lack of a rail link from Denia to Gandia and so on to Valencia.Over 2000 people turned up to make their protest. They all want this to be included in the budget for 2010.Mayors from all over the Marina Alta attended the demonstration. The Mayor of Oliva spoke to the assembly and voiced the unfairness of the decision to hold back on this scheme. He says that all that is needed is political will to see it through both from Valencia and madrid.
Recently the Denia council all voted in favour of the rail link and at that council meeting they called for everyone to attend this demonstration.Already many thousands of people have signed a petition to make their feelings felt.
Having this link would benefit Valencia as much as anything as so many people just do not make the effort to visit the city because of the hassle of travelling there.
