It is hoped by a PSOE councillor in Orihuela Costa that some of the 9 million euros from central government for their Plan E scheme could be used for making a communal park in the town. There is a piece of land where a childrens park,a BBQ area plus petanque pistes could be built for the community. The land is in an area called Las Mimosas and the councillor has met up with the Club Activo de Las Mimosas to discuss what might be achieved. This is a clun of Norwegian expats who regularly meet up on this ground to play games such as petanque. They also meet up in local bars to socialise and play bingo.
The councillor is just wanting to improve all of the facilities so that many more people could enjoy the socialising and competitive aspect of the ground. She sees a lovely communal public park as a perfect way of spending the government money. The decision on just how this money will be spent is going to be announced later this month.A petition has been organised to show the council just how much public support there is for this project.
