A Mucia lawyer who asked a friend if he could borrow his car for a trip to Madrid has been found guilty of signing the car documentation of the car over tom his father. He has been sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay 3000 euros as a fine.He must also pay the costs of the trial and cannot practice law for the duration of the sentence. He is also ordered to pay the rightful owner of the car the value of the vehicle as the car itself cannot be found.
The Murcia court agreed with a police report which said that there was no doubt that the lawyer had signed the documents which changed the ownership of the car.A handwriting expert for the defence who denied that this was a fact may face a charge of obstructing the course of justice.
The lawyer has also recently been found guilty of fraud and sentenced to nine months in prison. The offence concerned the sale of a property.
