The new Benidorm Council has announced that it intends to call in independent auditors to check the accounts of the previous PP run council.They want the accounts from 2003 to September of 2009 to be looked at.

The new Mayor has indicated the possibility of some irregularities in accounting with regard to the contracting of personnel and they also want major projects which have taken place evaluated.The motion to call in the auditors will be put to the next council meeting.

The Mayor wants the residents of Benidorm to see just what this council intends to do and also what the previous council did as well.The major projects that he is speaking of includes the Town Hall and the Palacio de Deportes adding that there were extra costs involved in their construction and they need to know if these are valid.He went on to say that there are signs of irregularities at this time.

Councillors involved with this present Mayor are going to publish details of their personal wealth and salaries on the council website from January 15 .The Mayor has invited opposition councillors to do the same.
