Thre Costa Blanca town of Gata de Gorgos has had three hundred homes legalised by the present mayor.She promised that she would do this in her 2007 election address and now 5 million square metres of land has been turned into urban land for the purpose of legalisation.

When she came into power she suspended all building licenses in order to protect the rural areas from more building.She then made a new town plan and made it quite clear that there would be no more of the horrendous developments which scar the landscape.

What she did want was to legalise those homes which had been built illegally and put in the infrastructure  in the areas where they have been built.Gata is one of a very few sensible councils which have decided to limit the building in their areas and close the door to promoters.
