Timeshares in Spanish destinations have always had a “dodgy” image.However many thousands have benefited from the idea .However the police in Benidorm on the Costa Blanca have recently arrested a British man in connection with a timeshare scam.In total nine people have been arrested and they are believed to have swindled people out of about 130,000 euros.In fact this could be a low estimate of the amount of money involved.
The original investigation arose from a complaint by a man who alleged that he had been swindled out of 3000 euros on a timeshare deal in the Canary Islands.Police began to investigate other Spanish resorts.They discovered a system of highly organised pyramid selling Those arrested include two Spaniards,two Uruguayans. a Paraguayan,an Argentinian,a Russian and a Croat.The police are not ruling out other arrests.
