The streets of towns and villages across the Costa Blanca are lit up using so much energy and for why?Is it because we are supposed to be celebrating the birth of the baby Jesus or is it a ploy to encourage shoppers to come and spend their money?
Shops are decorated with all sorts of displays and once again masses of lights. The children of the Costa Blanca are delighted as are people all across the world who are doing exactly the same thing.Just how much energy has been used across the world to light up Christmas.
Mayors across the region have officially turned on these lights in towns such as Pilar de la Horadada and Nativity scenes have also been officially illuminated too.In Alcoy the Three Wise Men are having new costumes this year,in a time of budget cuts that is quite something. It appears that the previous outfits were 125 years oldso maybe they can be excused having bought them something new.
Benidorm has been full of Santas, enough to confuse the “thinking” child.More confusing for children is that they have been of varying nationalities.Another piece of confusion for children was when 120 Harley Davidsons rode out of Benidorm towards Albir and all were dressed as Santa. They were doing it for a good cause, the children of EMAUS in Altea.
Now it is all over for another year and many do reflect on just what it was truly about. How many truly celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, who may or, more than likey may not, have been born on December 25.This is not cynicism but it is about getting reality back into what has become just about profits.
