There are too many patients for a health centre in Elche near Alicante.Residents and doctors from the Altabix health centre joined forces to protest outside the health centre.It seems that they are the only one in Spain to have to cope with more than 42,ooo patients.

The residents have been asking for a new health centre for some time and once again a new centre does not appear in the budget for next year.They have vowed to continue protesting until something is done about it .They want a response from the Health Council.

The legal limit for a health centre is 25,000 but in this case each of the doctors has been assigned more than 1700 patientsBecause they have so much work to do they are not able to become a teaching institute and therefore they miss out on grants and the like.The reality is that there are just too many patients.
