Spanish electricity prices will go up from January Ist.The Spanish Electricity Industry association says that bills will go up by 3-4%.This is of course another example of the general public having to pay for mis-management of an industry. The electricity sector is in deficit by at least 19,ooo million euros. That is a lot of money. How can such a deficit just creep up on an industry. They employ people to manage these companies, they employ accountants ,they have banks watching over them,so how does it happen?
UNESA is saying that the reson is that prices did not go up 10 years ago and that if they had then this situation would not exist. They even say that they may have been reducing prices now.Very few can work that one out. They give as an excuse the change over to the euro at that time!
One common sense way of keeping bills to a minimum is to just be very careful about what you use.If lights and appliances are turned off when they are not in use then bills need not increase in most homes.Turn the computer and the television off each night.Yes it is a pain to turn everything on again in the morning but it could be a big saving for the family budget.
