Agustin Navarro is the Mayor of Benidorm and he has just reached an agreement with the Alicante PortFoundation which will see over 9,000 cruise ship passengers visiting Benidorm each year.They have calculated that such tourism will bring in over a million extra euros a year to the town.

The Mayor and his council all believe that Benidorm should be on the ‘must visit” list for any person visiting Alicante Province.This year alone some 59 cruise ships have visited the Province.They have carried 95,000 people and if only 10% visited Benidorm it would make a big difference to the economy.

To ensure that this happens the Benidorm council must pay the Alicante Port Foundation 100,000 euros over 3 years as a subsidy so that a promotional campaign can be set up on board cruise ships.The promotions will also include shows tpo promote the food and culture of Benidorm.
