Is there something that “they ” know in Cartagena that “they” are not telling the rest of us?
Cartagena firemen have been undergoing specialised training in how to resue people who are trapped in collapsed buildings after earthquakes. This training is also vital after gas explosions in blocks of flats.
They have been taught how to drill into the different types of materials that various buildings are constructed from. This has to be done in as safe a way as possible to ensure the safety of any casualties who might be trapped.A concrete wall has to be drilled very differently from a metal one,for example.
It is interesting to realise that only 40% of the work done by a fireman actually involves fires. They have to train to provide safe rescues. They also rescue people from being trapped in cars and from under water situations.
